Amidst a Busy Campus Schedule, Two Lecturers from Polman Negeri Babel Serve as Speakers at a Workshop on Scaling Up and Market-Ready Creative Products
Efforts to better prepare Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) operators in Bangka Regency for market competition are ongoing. A workshop titled "Moving Up a Level: Market-Ready Creative Products"—organized by the Creative Economy Division of the Bangka Regency Tourism and Culture Office (Dinparbud)—was held at the Parai Tenggiri Building on Thursday (October 8, 2026).
A highlight of the workshop was the participation of two lecturers from the Informatics and Business Department of the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel)—Muhammad Setya Pratama, M.Si., and Riki Afriansyah, M.T.—who provided training on building product identities, developing packaging designs, and leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support promotional efforts.

In an interview, speaker Muhammad Setya Pratama, M.Si., expressed his desire to help MSME operators understand the importance of branding in establishing a product's identity and appeal. He noted that a brand is not merely a name or a logo; rather, it plays a crucial role in building consumer trust and differentiating the product from competitors.
Furthermore, the session emphasized the importance of building a brand—encompassing everything from the name and logo to the story behind the product—to create a strong identity that makes the product easily recognizable and enhances its value in the eyes of consumers.
"Thus, the knowledge and technological skills acquired enable MSME players to prepare their local creative products for entry into a broader market," he concluded.

Meanwhile, Riki Afriansyah, M.T., equipped participants with packaging design skills using the Canva app and introduced the use of AI as a promotional tool; MSME players can utilize AI to create promotional content, draft product descriptions, and prepare various digital marketing materials more quickly and efficiently," he explained.
Riki noted that, particularly during the practical and Q&A sessions, participants were encouraged to delve deeper into developing product identities, creating attractive packaging, and leveraging digital technology to reach a wider consumer base," he concluded.
