Hundreds of Polman Negeri Babel Employees and Students Undergo Health Checks
Hundreds of employees and students of the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) participated in a free health check activity organized by the Sungailiat Health Center in the Joint Lecture Building Salasar on the campus, Tuesday (06/17/2025). This activity aims to increase awareness of the importance of early detection of health problems in the campus environment.
The health check includes checking blood pressure, blood sugar levels, cholesterol, and general health consultations. The activity took place from morning to afternoon with high enthusiasm from the entire academic community.
As a nurse at the Sungailiat Health Center, Ema said that this activity is part of a promotive and preventive program that is routinely carried out in various institutions, including campuses.
"We want to bring health services closer while fostering the habit of early detection among productive groups such as students and campus employees," she added.
From monitoring at the location, participants took turns undergoing examinations at several service desks provided. Medical personnel also provided education about healthy eating patterns and the importance of regular exercise.
One of Polman Babel's employees, Subeno, welcomed this activity. As campus workers, we often forget to maintain our health because of our busyness. The existence of this service makes us more concerned about our respective body conditions," he said.
Subeno also hopes that this activity can be carried out regularly. "Regular health checks are important so that we know early if there are health problems," he added.
From among students, this activity also received a positive response, Riana as a student, said that this activity helped her understand her health condition. I now know that my blood pressure is a little high. This is an alarm for me to start changing my lifestyle," he said.
He added that activities like this could be part of the healthy campus curriculum. "Moreover, it's free and done on campus, so it's very helpful," he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Director II, Muhammad Subhan., M.T. expressed his appreciation to Sungailiat Health Center for the cooperation that was built. He hopes that this collaboration will continue in various forms of other health services in the future.
This free health check activity is a synergy between educational institutions and public health service facilities that can provide real benefits, especially in efforts to improve the health of the campus community," he concluded.
