Equip Yourself for Success, Babel State Polman Alumni Take Construction Competency Certification
In an effort to increase the competitiveness of graduates, the Bangka Belitung Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) carries out activities to provide additional competencies and certification for alumni in the construction sector. This program is a follow-up to the Circular Letter of the Director General of Construction Development No. 54/SE/Dk/2024 which stipulates that graduates of Vocational High Schools, Polytechnics and Universities need to have competency certification to meet industry standards.
This event was held by the Palembang Region II Construction Services Center and took place at the Polman Babel Joint Lecture Building (GKB), Monday (7/10/2024). Taking place face-to-face, this program aims to equip graduates with skills that suit the needs of today's job market.
The activity took place from 07 to 11 October 2024 and was attended by 50 Polman Babel alumni, consisting of Diploma III and Applied Bachelor graduates.
Director of the Polman Babel Professional Certification Institute (LSP), Masdani, M.T., emphasized the importance of this program in increasing the credibility of graduates and receiving appreciation from various parties, including construction companies who hope that Polman Babel graduates can become reliable workers in their fields. "It is also hoped that this certification can improve the image of Polman Babel as a vocational education institution that produces quality graduates," he said.
"With this certification, our graduates are expected to be better prepared to face the world of work and have a competitive advantage in the labor market," he said when giving a speech at the opening of the event.
Masdani also expressed his hope that the participants would make the best use of this opportunity. “This is a valuable opportunity. "Graduates must be serious and committed to completing the entire series of activities so that they can obtain certification which will open up wider job opportunities," he added.
In line with that, the Head of the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Department of Bangka Belitung Province, Ardiansyah, S.E., M.M., emphasized the importance of certification for graduates in the era of global competition. According to him, this certification is not only important for individuals, but also for the construction industry as a whole.
"Providing this competency certification is a real step to create a construction workforce that is competent and professionally recognized," said Ardiansyah.
Ardiansyah also reminded the participants to be serious and focused during the training. "This is not just ordinary training, but also an assessment process that will determine their readiness in the world of work. I hope all participants take it seriously," he added.
One of the participants, Anggi Saputra, who is a Polman Babel alumni, welcomed this activity positively. “This activity is very important for us, especially those who are looking for work. "With this certification, we have a greater chance of being accepted by the companies we are interested in," he said.
