Babel State Polman Collaborates with PT. Prosper, Career and Entrepreneurship Socialization for Students
Memed Wahyudi, resource person from PT. Prosper, explains the huge opportunities in the sharia insurance business which not only provides financial protection but also paves the way for building a sustainable startup business.
The Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) is again preparing students for the world of work and entrepreneurship. This was demonstrated through socialization activities with the theme "Career Development and Entrepreneurship" which was held in the campus hall on Tuesday (21/01/2025).
This activity succeeded in attracting the attention of around 50 final year students who filled the hall with enthusiasm. As the main resource person, PT. Prosper Pangkalpinang was invited to share insight and experience in managing a business that houses Prudential Syariah Insurance to share insight and experience in managing a sharia-based business which also wants to recruit students to undertake apprenticeships and employees in their office.
Head of the Academic Support Unit for Career Development and Entrepreneurship, Harwadi, S.S.T., M.Ed., in his speech conveyed the importance of students preparing themselves from an early age to face the world of work and the challenges of entrepreneurship.
"We want to equip students not only with technical knowledge, but also with the life skills they will need out there," he said.
Harwadi added that this activity also aims to introduce students to various business opportunities that are relevant to current needs. "Hopefully this event can inspire them to take the first step in achieving their dreams," he hoped.
In line with Ir. Dedy Ramdhani Harahap, M.Sc. (Eng) emphasized that activities like this are one of Polman Babel's strategic efforts in increasing the competitiveness of graduates.
"We want to produce a generation that is not only ready to work, but also able to create job opportunities for other people," he explained.
Resource person from PT. Prosper, Memed Wahyudi as Director of this company delivered material discussing how this insurance business can be a protection solution as well as a business opportunity. "Through the Prudential business, we can start by protecting our own family, then develop a startup business using a system that has been tested," he said.
In the discussion session, Memed also explained Prudential's success in leading the life insurance industry in 2023.
"Apart from providing insurance services, we also regularly hold training for prospective marketers to improve their abilities. This is important to build the trust of potential customers," he added.
Students looked enthusiastic during the question and answer session. They not only ask about business strategies, but also practical tips for starting a business from scratch.
In closing, Memed conveyed his hopes to Polman Babel students. "I hope that young people like you can take bold steps to create a better future, both through professional careers and entrepreneurial paths," he concluded.
