PEMALI - POLMANBABEL. One of the lecturer activities that is directly beneficial to the community is carrying out community service which is part of the Tridharma of Higher Education.
Likewise, what has been done by the lecturer in the electrical and informatics department of the Bangka Belitung State Polytechnic of Manufacturing (Polman Negeri Babel) this time, carrying out the Community Service Program (PKM) with the application of technology in the surrounding community.
Precisely in the form of the latest technological touch, Smarthome based on the Internet of Things (IoT) for Surau Miftahul Busro Karya Makmur Village, Pemali District, Bangka Regency.
"This technology facility is expected to improve surau management and control in real time which can be accessed remotely," said Muhamad Iqbal Nugraha, Polman Negeri Babel lecturer who developed the tool, Wednesday (06/01).
The lecturer who also served as Chair of the Electrical and Informatics Department said that the program for assembling and testing this tool had been carried out three months ago, and currently monitoring the function of the technology so that it runs well.
He continued that the facilities provided to this surau include smartCAM or CCTV integrated with Android, with the function of this device making it easy for surau administrators to monitor the condition of the surau directly via smartphone with several interesting features such as notifications when someone passes by, tracking (following movement), recording (recording), and others.
"Everything can be done anywhere because the device is connected to the internet," said Iqbal.
Apart from that, intelligent control devices or remote electrical equipment for the surau are also provided in this service program.
In short, the control of electronic devices in the surau such as air conditioners (AC) and others can be controlled remotely through the touch of a finger on a smartphone.
"This remote device is infrared based and connected to the internet so that electrical equipment in the surau such as air conditioners can be controlled from the smartphones of the surau administrators," he said.
Iqbal also explained that this IoT technology is the first step for further development because there is still other potential that can be applied from IoT technology in surau or other mosques, the use of this technology is not limited to certain places and circles.
Therefore, the introduction to the public through this program will increase people's insight into the importance of technology in everyday life.
"I am very grateful and grateful to Surau Miftahul Busro who is pleased to be the object of this community service program," he said.
Meanwhile, the chairman of Surau Miftahul Busro, H Sapri Sa'at welcomed this service program and thanked the Polman Negeri Babel because the lecturer cares about public facilities and small places of worship such as surau.
With this tool, H Sapri Sa'at feels helped to supervise the surau, the application provided is very easy and practical to use so it is very suitable to be implemented in this surau.
"We feel that we have a new practice and feel helped because there is technology that is used to support daily tasks in the surau," said H Sapri.
"The way to use it is very easy and practical, it can be used by our age," he joked.
He also hopes that activities such as this dedication can be further developed such as increasing the number and types of other smart devices, so that Miftahul Busro Surau can become a model mosque with technology.
In addition, the congregation and the community are increasingly loving and comfortable worshiping Allah SWT in the surau, in the future this surau will be turned into a mosque so that technology and facilities like this are urgently needed.
"What we do in places of worship is purely to get closer to Allah SWT," he said. (hms)
