Exploring the Potential Development of the Babel Region Together with the Regional Government, PTV-SV and Dudi, Polman Babel Carrying out Partnership Ecosystem FGDs
SUNGAILIAT-POLMANBABEL. Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) has carried out a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) Partnership Ecosystem Strengthening Program for Regional Potential-Based Innovation Development in the Polman Babel Hall building, Thursday 7 March 2024.
This discussion is a step by Polman Babel in exploring the development of regional potential in Bangka Belitung Province through collaboration between the Regional Government, Vocational Higher Education (PTV), Vocational Schools such as Vocational Schools and also the Business World of Industry (DUDI).
Present as resource persons in the FGD from the Regional Apparatus Organizations of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province were Bappeda, Education Service, Industry and Trade Department, Diskertrans, DMPTSP and BPS as well as representatives of the Babel Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN).
Apart from that, Polman Babel invited the Dharma Bhakti Bangka Community Academy, several Vocational High Schools and several associations or associations in Babel, the business world of industry.
Polman Babel together with stakeholders explored regional potential in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province as material for preparing work-ready graduates from vocational education such as Polman Babel and Vocational Schools that are in accordance with industrial and regional needs.
The discussion material discusses issues that constitute the superior potential of the Bangka Belitung Islands region and their relationship to the need for productive labor.
Director of Polman Negeri Babel, I Made Andik Setiawan, M.Eng., Ph.D welcomed the presence of representatives of the Regional Government as resource persons, Kadin, Dudi and associations and Vocational Schools to Polman Babel to discuss the regional need for competent human resources.
"Thank you to the invited guests who came to our Polman Babel campus, today we gather and discuss together because our paradigm has changed, now is the time for collaboration so we need each other and discuss each other," said Made in his speech (07 /03).
Made also explained that Polman Babel is a state university that belongs to the state, belongs to the community and belongs to all of us, so it would be a shame if we do not use the existing facilities for the benefit of the nation and state, especially for the Bangka Belitung area.
He continues the duties and functions of Polman Babel in this case the Tridharma of Higher Education, namely Education, Research and Community Service.
In the field of education to prepare human resources or the nation's successors, in the field of research in order to develop knowledge in accordance with current developments, thirdly community service means that the knowledge developed must be useful to society.
"Our task is to develop knowledge, but the question is what knowledge we have to develop in accordance with regional potential and can solve problems in the region," said Made.
"We invite and gather to listen to what we have to do, what you want and the potential of the area that we will develop together. The input is very useful for all of us," he continued.
Meanwhile, Dr. Andy Yusfany, S.E., M.Si as Head of the Economics Division of Bappeda, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, in his speech appreciated Polman Babel for being able to facilitate discussion activities like this in order to find solutions for the future progress of vocational education.
"Thank you to Polman Babel for facilitating activities like this with instructions from the ministry's program, regional governments should also carry out collaborative activities like this," said Andy.
He said that 80 percent of Bangka Belitung's territory is sea, it turns out that our potential is in the sea, so the development policy for the Bangka Belitung region includes a blue economic development area in accordance with the conditions of our region which contains the sea, coast and small islands.
"When we discuss the blue economy, economic activities that use, take, utilize marine and coastal resources, so you can imagine what human resources we need," said Andy.
According to Andy, starting from 2025 to 2045, we can prepare human resources, for example for assembling ships, processing fishery products and minerals in the sea and in the tourism sector.
The challenge for Bangka Belitung in the future is how to create human resources from vocational education that are in line with the output and needs of the industrial world.
He continued, Bappeda has facilitated the formation of the Regional Vocational Coordination Team (TKDV) for the Bangka Belitung Islands Province consisting of regional officials, Kadin, vocational colleges and vocational schools which will become a partnership ecosystem in preparing human resources for vocational education.
Coordinator of the Polman Babel research team in the ecosystem strengthening program for developing innovation based on the potential of the Babel region, Irwan. M.Sc., Ph.D explained the progress of program implementation that had been carried out by the Polman Babel team in collaboration with the National Police in the South Sumatra region.
He explained that this program is a research program organized by the Directorate General of Vocational Education, Kemdikbudristek through LPDP funding with a grand design for research on innovation development in the regions within a three year period which refers to potential and advantages, as well as priority regional development agendas.
"This is our first year conducting research which started last November, the sustainability of this program depends on the results in this first year," said Irwan.
As for the aim of this program, Irwan said it was to synergize partnerships and align between vocational education units and regional stakeholders.
Next, you can produce a policy brief containing workforce planning and innovation planning to produce innovation clusters based on regional potential or needs.
"This first step is to map the potential and regional needs of stakeholders through data and input from discussions like this," he continued.
Irwan hopes that this discussion activity will answer the needs for data and information regarding the condition of Bangka Belitung so that the team will more accurately process and analyze the condition of Bangka Belitung and the need for workers prepared from vocational education graduates.
